Drink Water, Lose Weight!
Think it couldn’t be as easy as this? Think again. You really can lose fat just by incorporating a few simple water drinking strategies. Not just a few pounds but even a hefty 40 - 50 pounds of fat has been shed by people doing the first strategy below! Summer is the time to do this. It’s easier to drink a lot of water when it’s hot.
As a matter of fact, you cannot lose fat permanently unless you are drinking enough water. Everyone knows we need to drink up to 2 quarts of water a day. If you drink coffee, tea or any other type of beverage you need to drink more...an equal amount of water for each beverage. These drinks are dehydrating and you have to make it up. If you live where it’s hot and dry, during the summer you need a little more than 2 quarts, especially because you are exercising regularly, right?
It’s possible to be overweight, just because you don’t drink enough water. Most short term diets just produce dehydration because everyone loses water first and then they plateau. How many times have you given up trying to lose fat because you lost weight initially and then just stalled out? Unless you replenish your water stores every day you can be mildly dehydrated. No, other beverages don’t count. Your body’s cells need water.
Make these 6 “drinking water strategies” your new habits this summer and see if you don’t lose more fat:
1) Replace all sodas (even diet sodas,) fruit juices, and other beverages with water.
2) Fill 2 quart containers with filtered water every morning that will be your quota for the day.
3) Take a glass of water to your bedroom that you drink first thing in the morning.
4) Drink a glass of water before every meal.
5) When you feel hungry drink a glass of water (sometimes your body just needs water.)
6) At the first sign of any body discomfort first drink a glass of water.
Dehydration can trigger many disease states. Do you ever experience muscle spasms and cramping? How about fatigue, headaches or mental fuzziness? Try drinking an 8 oz. glass of water. These are all signs of dehydration.
In his fascinating book,The Body’s Many Cries for Water, Dr F. Batmanghelidj, he has a chapter on how water affects body weight. He shares the stories of letters he received from readers of his book who all lost between 30 and 45 pounds in weight and all they did was substitute water for other beverages they were drinking!
