Belly Fat

by Holly
(Canada)

Visitor Question:

I am not overweight on the scales but I have a roll around the belly area that I just can't get rid of. My eating habits are not the geatest, especially in the evenings when we watch TV. I have tried many times to cut that out but always seem to slip back into my old
habits again.

As far as I can see this would also be a diet since I would be trying hard to stick to certain foods and avoiding other ones. I can see me just slipping off of it again and again. How can this be any different?

Of course I know how important my health is and that I need to make a commitment but that is what I always do.. make a commitment - but then down the road a ways I break it.

By 'treats' I mean fun food, like Pizza, egg rolls, chips, bars, pop, that kind of stuff.

I want to be healthy but I am hooked on my 'treats'.
Is there hope for me?

Lifetime Fat Loss Answers:

Yes, of course there's hope for you but you must decide how important this is to you! If your belly fat is really bothering you, you will be sufficiently motivated to change your old habits, right? It takes 30 days to change a habit. But you have to make up your mind, Holly. Nothing else can be as important as this.

We only get one body in this lifetime so we have to decide if we are going to take care of it. It is a fact of life that many if not most people do not think much about their health until it is gone or they are in pain or discomfort. It's much easier to just go on eating the junk we know is not good for us.

Caring about your health is just that and has nothing to do with "going on a diet." Most people "go on a diet" to lose weight, not to change their way of eating. My point is that when you truly change your way of eating the way I describe here you will lose your interest and taste for what you call the "fun" foods. There are lots of "fun" foods that are good for you that have good fats, low glycemic sweeteners and the like. Even ice cream is ok occasionally if it has just eggs, milk, cream and sugar in it. Why? Because the protein and the fats in ice cream moderate the rise in blood sugar and adding some chopped raw nuts will help even more.

Go back and read sugar free desserts and the food lovers diet. What about eating plain yogurt at night with frozen cherries or fresh fruit while you're watching tv? Dig a little deeper on the site, Holly and I'm sure you can find a low glycemic substitute until your cravings are gone. See controlling food cravings to understand why you crave the junk foods.

If you decide that you want to truly make a commitment to your lifelong health, remove the high glycemic foods from your kitchen and stock the healthy, low glycemic ones. This is not a diet to go on and fall off, this is your life. You only get one - live it well! Write me again if you decide to take this seriously. I know that low glycemic eating can get rid of that jelly roll.

We can only be as healthy as we think we can be so yes, it starts with your thinking.
