Visitor Question:
My girlfriend and I are working on our weight loss together. We both enjoy putting veggies and fruits together in smoothies and blends to get our servings in the morning. Is this a good way to get our 2 - 3 servings a day?
Any ideas to help with this idea would be appreciated!

Lifetime Fat Loss Answers:
I'm a big believer in eating smoothies and blends to be healthier and maintain your ideal weight! So, yes, this can be an excellent mainstay of your weight loss plan as long as you are eating in a balanced way the rest of your day. The more veggies and fruits you eat the more inclined you will be to eat for your health.
Two - three servings is a good start but you need a minimum of 3 - 5 servings a day. This is not difficult if you have a salad at 2 meals and a cooked vegetable with at least one meal a day and produce with snacks. You need both raw and cooked vegetables because there are different nutrients available with each.
I have an article on healthy juicing recipes and also one on juicing for weight loss. You will need either a good juicer or a powerful blender if you start doing this every day. I love my Vitamix but there are other good ones on the market.
Have you considered checking out pedometers to make sure you are moving enough? That's the other half of this equation: Healthy eating plus enough movement equals ideal weight!
