Visitor Question:
How to use flaxseed oil for weight loss?
Lifetime Fat Loss Answers:
Excellent question. The flaxseed oil has to be refrigerated and should come in a dark colored bottle and say that it is unrefined and cold pressed. Try consuming 1 tablespoon a day by itself or in vegetable juice. Only do this for 6 months because it's so rich in LNA (a fatty acid) it could throw off your balance of omega 3s and 6s if you consume this much long term.
The right kind of fats can help you to lose weight, as counter intuitive as this sounds. However, you must avoid sugar, high fructose corn syrup and all high glycemic foods especially white, processed and refined foods like breads, pastries etc. You must give up sweet drinks that will raise your blood sugar.
Flaxseed oil contains W3 fatty acids which can help with fat loss in 3 ways. They help our kidneys remove excess water weight and W3 fatty acids increase our metabolic rate. Flaxseed oil can help to stabilize your blood sugar. The third way it helps with fat loss is that you can be exercising more because your energy level is higher.
You cannot manage your weight effectively without regular exercise. People have lost more weight by adding flaxseed or coconut oil to their diets but they were eating nutritiously and exercising regularly.
I did read about a woman who lost a considerable amount of weight when she added 3 T. of flaxseed oil to her diet. But she was already eating a low glycemic, nutritious diet. She clearly was deficient in omega 3 fatty acids so it made a significant difference for her in being able to metabolize her food more efficiently.
In order to lose a lot of fat it is necessary to be consuming all the vitamins, minerals and fiber you need along with the fatty acids in good oils, like flaxseed oil. That is why I recommend that you juice vegetables too which are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals.
All these nutrients work together to support good metabolism and a lean body. For a balanced diet of all the food groups take a look at the Mediterranean Diet Food Pyramid.
One more tip I will give you as far as using good oils to manage your weight, is to use virgin coconut oil for cooking and even to consume up to a tablespoon in a hot beverage. Coconut oil will also help you to burn fat as long as you aren't eating too many other calories. Virgin, unrefined coconut oil is cheaper and easier to find than high quality flaxseed oil. It is also not so perishable and can be kept on your shelf. It too has many health benefits.
