My life of dieting and weight loss

Thank you so much for the response. Over the years I've done every diet known to man (Weight Watchers, South Beach, Zone, HCG, and the list goes on). The most recent was Ideal Protein which was the only diet I've been able to do and not hit a plateau that I can't get past.

I've basically had to diet since I was 12. When I was younger I could just cut out fried foods and sweets. After having two children I got to my highest weight of 210. Through many months of dieting I lost 80 lbs. and have just struggled keeping it off for the last 13 years. It seems like once I add carbs back to my diet I gain weight. If I eat bad for one day I spend the entire week getting it back off.

I have always tried to eat very healthy with lean meats, green vegetables and switching to multigrain, sprouted grain or whole grain products.  As a single parent of two kids it is very hard to exercise but I've made an effort to exercise at least 3 days a week (fast walking on a treadmill) but some weeks I can only get a day in.

At this point I am searching for the answers to what portions of food I should be eating and what I should really aim for on a daily basis and something that will allow the occasional bad meal without killing myself with food restriction all week.

I hope you found my article on portion control and serving sizes. Once you have restored your metabolic balance and increased your insulin sensitivity enough you will not be affected by the occasional high glycemic or "bad meal." Start juicing greens on a daily basis and you'll get there faster.
