OK, so I read on another page that you have to BOIL the water then add the cinnamon. DO you have to boil it for it to work? Or can I just drink it like that?
Lifetime Fat Loss Answers:
It's not necessary to add cinnamon to water that's boiling! Just add 1/2 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon to a glass of water from the tap. It can be room temperature or cold - doesn't matter. Stir well and don't worry if it settles at the bottom of the glass. Enough of the cinnamon is extracted from the water to give you the benefits. Cinnamon has such a strong flavor that it's probably going to taste best in water, tea or coffee.
When I was writing my page on the relationship between weight loss and cinnamon, I contacted Richard Anderson, Ph.D., a researcher with the USDA Agricultural Research Service who has studied cinnamon and it's beneficial affects on blood sugar for 20 years. I asked him if you actually need to eat the cinnamon. He said it wasn't necessary, that all you need to do is drink the water (or tea)that it's been stirred into. The water has extracted enough of the cinnamon to be effective.
As you know if you read my article about cinnamon, it helps to reduce the symptoms of diabetes by helping to control blood sugar. It increases insulin sensitivity, reduces LDL cholesterol and helps to lower blood pressure.
It's best to drink it in a beverage before a meal twice a day. It will help to reduce the blood sugar affects of the meal and manage your fat metabolism. You do not have to boil any water, just add cinnamon and stir.
