Are there different kinds of cinnamon and if so what is the best kind to use to manage your blood sugar?

Cinnamon is an herb used mainly to spice food in the U.S. but it also has medicinal and health benefits. There are different types of cinnamon but here in the U.S. what is readily available to us works fine. You can buy the cinnamon that you will find on the spice shelf in your local grocery store. I happen to buy mine in bulk at my local natural foods market but it's basically the same stuff.
There is quite a bit of documented research on how cinnamon is effective for managing blood sugar and increasing insulin sensitivity. My source of information about the type of cinnamon and how to use it was Richard Anderson, a researcher with the USDA Agricultural Research Service, who has been researching cinnamon for 20 years. According to him, ordinary table cinnamon can be added to water or a beverage and the extracted amount is enough to be helpful. The cinnamon tends to settle at the bottom of the glass or cup but that's ok.
